Chris Hadfield Spacewalk on STS-100
The Canadian Space Agency announced this morning that they will hold a press conference tomorrow to announce an important mission for one of Canada's astronauts. It is expected that the Canadian Space Agency will announce that veteran Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield will be introduced as the first Canadian Commander of an expedition to the International Space Station.
Earlier this year we reported that Hadfield would most likely fly to the International Space Station in November of 2012 as a member of Expedition 34. He would then transition to Commander of Expedition 35 and spend a total of 6 months aboard the space station.
At tomorrow's press conference, which will be webcast on the Canadian Space Agency web site, will be the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology) who will be representing Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Canadian Space Agency who will make the announcement. Minister Goodyear will be joined by Honourable Jose Verner, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, President of the Queen's Privy Council and Minister for La Francophonie, and Steve MacLean, President of the Canadian Space Agency.
